Billing
Tuition is billed monthly, at the beginning of each month for that month, based on the number of scheduled lessons in that month. Tuition will be withdrawn the same day as the invoice for those who opt in to auto-pay. Customers who opt out of auto-pay must pay tuition by the due date to avoid a $10 late fee. Methods of payment accepted are cash, debit/credit (additional surcharge) card, Google/Apple Pay (additional surcharge), and ACH Bank Transfer (no additional fees).
- This structure will not change and is consistent year-round.
- We will no longer offer refunds or lesson credits for missed or canceled lessons, with the exception of one per 3 months (see below for details).
Cancellations and Flexibility
Students are allowed 1 canceled lesson per 3-month period at no charge, with no make-up required.
- These periods are:
- September–November
- December–February
- March–May
- June–August
Any additional absences beyond the one allowed per period are considered paid lessons. However, we offer a variety of flexible make-up lesson options (see below).
Cancellations and Flexibility
If a teacher is unavailable due to vacation, touring, or personal leave, you will be offered:
- A substitute teacher, or
- One or more make-up options arranged by the regular teacher
If a family chooses not to accept the sub or make-up lesson, the lesson is still counted as a paid lesson.
Make-Up Lesson Options
Make-up lessons are flexible and creative to meet the needs of both students and teachers. Options may include, but are not limited to:
- Rescheduling the lesson to another available time
- Adding extra time to a future regularly scheduled lesson
- Virtual lessons via Zoom or similar platforms
- Make-Up Days: Teachers may designate a special day (such as a weekend) where all make-ups are scheduled back-to-back
- Theory Class Day: Join a group theory class to build musicianship skills
- Strings or other Ensemble Day: Special class for instrumentalists/vocalists to play, learn, and connect. Scheduled by the teacher.
- Grand Piano Day at our Robbinsdale location: A special experience for piano students to explore music on a grand piano
Teachers can give students a video or document with practice ideas. Teachers could use the student’s lesson time to put together some practice suggestions for the week, maybe a link to a cool YouTube video on music theory or a cool song they might like, etc.
Summer Lessons:
The policy will still carry through the summer, BUT, we will also offer an 8 week lesson package designed to offer more flexibility for students whose summer schedules fill up with other extra-curricular activities. This is the package we offered this summer for the first time.
