Brian Mehr has bachelors in Music and International Relations from St. Cloud State University. He studied with Yakov Gelfand, PhD, from Leningrad (now Petersburg) Conservatory for 9 years, and he also studied with Professor Itsvan Gulays at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest Hungary.
Brian is an accompanist for several ballet companies in Twin Cities Metro Area, including the Classical Ballet Academy, the Children’s Theater, the University of Minnesota, Macalaster College Dance Program, the Metropolitan Ballet, and the Boston ballet.
As well, Brian is a composer. He teaches and encourages his students to compose and perform their own music. His teaching style is classically based and traditional, but he also enjoys teaching almost anything off of YouTube or the Internet. In addition to teaching classical music, technique, and theory, Brian tailors each lesson to what his students want to learn.
Outside of music, Brian loves 50-year-old vintage motobecane and puch mopeds and he rides them regularly. Brian also loves photography, particularly black and white photos with lots of grain.
