Jeff Hanson

Jeff Hanson has been in several local bands and has played multiple instruments for decades. He is classically trained in piano and guitar and holds a BA and MA in Music. He is currently working on his PhD at the University of Minnesota where he studies Reservation Era Indianist composition and its history as commodity. Jeff has taught music lessons since 2001 and loves to work with beginning and intermediate musicians. He has a depth of knowledge on several musical topics including music theory, improvisation, and music history. Jeff provides lessons on piano, guitar, drums (both drumset and orchestral percussion), bass guitar, music theory, and voice.

Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife Jasmine renovating their newly purchased home. He is a PC hobbyist and loves to play computer games. He enjoys spending time with his pug and his shepherd mix. He also has two cats, Tiny and Eugene. When he is not teaching instrument pedagogy, he loves to spend time in classroom instruction teaching popular music, classical music, and topics in ethnomusicology. He has taught at the University of Minnesota for the past five years and it has been the highlight of his professional life.

Jeff is available for lessons virtually, in home within 10 miles of Crystal, MN, in the Opus studios in New Hope and Robbinsdale, and at Jeff’s studio in Crystal, MN.

  • $5 more per in home lesson

Attendance policy

At least 24 hours notice. Rescheduling is available for that same week if space is available.
